James Tanona Car Accident Newbury MA, Obituary Death – Triton Regional High School Student Is Dead
The Triton Regional High School community in Massachusetts is mourning the loss of a senior student who died in a fatal motor vehicle crash in Revere during the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026. The tragedy has brought sadness to classmates, teachers, friends, and others connected to the school, as they come to terms with the loss of a young person whose future held many possibilities.
According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers received several 911 calls at approximately 3:23 a.m. reporting a wrong-way driver traveling in the northbound lanes of Route 1 near the Saugus–Revere area. The vehicle subsequently collided head-on with another car just south of Sargent Street in Revere. The wrong-way vehicle was on fire when emergency responders arrived, and despite lifesaving efforts, its driver died at the scene. The other driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a Boston hospital.
The reported death has deeply affected the Triton school community. Superintendent Brian Forget described the student as kind and caring, noting that he was involved in school life and connected with many students and staff members. His message expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and acknowledged the grief being experienced throughout the school community.
In response to the tragedy, the school district arranged for counselors and support staff to be available to students and employees. Additional crisis-support personnel were also being brought in to help the community through the difficult days ahead. These efforts reflect the importance of giving young people and school staff space to grieve, talk about their feelings, and seek support from trusted people around them.
Although some online reports have identified the student as James Tanona, Massachusetts State Police have not publicly released the name of the juvenile driver, and that identification has not been independently confirmed. The crash remains under investigation, and the family’s privacy deserves respect while authorities establish the facts. As the Triton community remembers its student, may classmates, friends, and loved ones find comfort in one another and support as they navigate this painful loss.
